You can be completely on top of all things in life and research like crazy, but I will tell you that once you have to actually implement, you realize that you feel so COMPLETELY INADEQUATE. Once you start to look for improvements, you realize you’re missing so many pieces. When it comes to gut health, detoxification, weight loss, diet,… I’ve got it. Everything makes sense. I can help a myriad of cases. It’s what I do. I’m a researcher.
And so going into motherhood, I have prepared and researched and felt like I knew what I was doing. And most moments, though difficult, have been SO GREAT! What a blessing of a gift that we have – a true miracle! Travis and I just want to snuggle her to pieces (most of the time); after 2 hours of fussiness at 1AM, patience is a bit more thin.
And when I started to breastfeed, I thought things were pretty normal… until we got really fussy.
I thought things were pretty normal… until I was told by a professional that we had a latching issue.
I thought that things were pretty normal… until I learned that her smelly diapers and gassy self were likely due to a food, maybe eggs.
I thought that things were pretty normal… until…
The reason I’m saying this is because we all have our “norms”. This could be acne, weight gain in our latter years, food sensitivities, unaddressed IBS (bloating, constipation, etc due to an unresolved infection or dysbiosis rather than food), and truly so much more. And just because our genetics reveal certain genes DOES NOT mean that we are destined for it. Epigenetics means that we can turn our genes on or off based on our environment.
So whatever journey you’re currently on, remember that IT’S OKAY to not know everything and that it’s okay to seek outside advice. We all need extra support and the right support systems. Health is an investment and saves so much heartache, blood, sweat, and tears.

And one last note and a constant reminder: Romans 5:3-5:
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
Every day is a faith walk and we need to build upon and strengthen it daily. Don’t forget that.
