“Don’t Do It.”

What I tell my clients before they choose to go forward with removing their gallbladder (a cholecystectomy) … This is one of the most common surgeries we perform in the US (over 750,000 surgeries!!), but we’re never informed on how we can support and help our gallbladder, to save it.

(If our brains didn’t work, would we remove those too?)

First of all, let’s identify what your gallbladder is for.

It’s a small pear shaped organ located under your liver, on the right side of your abdomen.

It is responsible for storing bile, produced by the liver, and aiding in detoxification.

Our gallbladders are one of our detox organs. They create bile salts to emulsify fats and aid in fat digestion and absorption (yay avocados and butter!)

The bile itself is great in that it binds to fat-soluble toxins to be carried out through our stool. We then absorb about 95% of the bile. So, yes, our bodies recycle it and if it’s not clean? Bad things happen.

When there is a build-up of stones or a less functioning gallbladder, that’s a sign your body is giving you to START MAKING CHANGES. Removing your gallbladder often doesn’t fix the issue. Eventually, something else will ‘call out and cry out’.
